Connection takes courage
As human beings we respond to each other’s stories. We see what we have in common, or what we aspire to be. We bond over fears, pain, vulnerabilities. We admire others’ strengths, perseverance and achievements. There’s no question that sharing personal stories fosters immediate trust, empathy, and respect. It builds confidence, communication skills and can strengthen a team’s commitment to their shared purpose.
But getting to that level of sharing takes courage. We’ll only share what matters when we feel safe, encouraged and listened to. It’s a big risk. With a big payoff.
