The Power of Speaking Your Truth

Have you ever found yourself answering “I’m fine” when you’re anything but?

Or putting on a brave face when what you’re really craving is connection, understanding, and a space to be fully seen?

I had the opportunity to talk about this with Jen Marples on The Jen Marples Show. Together, we dive into the courage it takes to speak your truth — and why doing so is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and those around you.

In our conversation, we explore the heart of the work I share in my book Speaking to What Matters: My Story of Learning How to Share What’s Inside. We talk about why the very things we’re most afraid to say out loud often become the doorways to the deep intimacy and real connection we long for.

One of the frameworks I shared — Challenge, Choice, and Change — offers a simple, powerful way to begin telling your own story:

What challenges have shaped your life?

What choices have you made in response to those challenges?

How have those choices changed who you are today?

When you share what’s truly inside — not just the polished, “everything’s great” version — something beautiful happens. You realize you’re not alone. You find the depth of connection that we’re all craving, especially during times of transition and growth.

As Jen would say, “You’re not too fing old!”** — it’s never too late to share what’s inside, and to build the relationships and community that truly nourish you.

It’s never too late to open your heart and find the relationships and community that truly nourish you.
